Blues News: Episode 4

Birmingham Live

Saturday’s game against Bristol Rovers was a complete wipeout. The home team won 2-0, leading from just 6 minutes in. The Blues dominated possession with 66% control of the ball, and outshot the visitors by a massive 26-3. Birmingham keeper Ryan Allsop had to make just one save in the game. The game-winning goal was scored by Lee Buchanan, his first for Birmingham; Jay Stansfield added a PK to ice the game later in the first half.

With the win the Blues moved back up into 2nd place, leapfrogging Wrexham, who gave up an 89th-minute penalty to draw 2-2 with Cambridge United. They are now a point ahead of the Welsh club with 2 games still in hand. Wycombe Wanderers were unsurprising 4-1 winners at Shrewsbury and stay a point clear at the top of the table. again, the Blues have a game in hand on Wycombe.

Birmingham City are off this weekend, but have a crazy schedule coming up starting Monday:

@ Crawley Town (21st), Monday, 12/23, 2:00pm

v. Burton Albion (23rd), Thursday, 12/26, 9:00am

v. Blackpool (10th), Sunday, 12/29, 9:00am

@ Stockport County (5th), Wednesday, 1/1, 9:00am

@ Wigan Athletic (16th), Saturday, 1/4, 9:00am

Yet again, Paramount/CBS is completely snubbing the Blues; of these games only the Crawley game is being broadcast in the US. The Blues will be on US TV later in January when they play Wrexham (surprise, surprise) in a game which will also be aired on COSM “shared reality“.

Wycombe and Wrexham are just as busy: the Wanderers have 6 games between this Friday and January 7th; Wrexham have 5. Wycombe’s schedule is about as tight as Birmingham’s.

That’s it for us until after Christmas; blessings to you all and thanks for your readership!
