Alex Martinez joins the Legion as assistant coach

The Legion today announced the hiring of Alex Martinez as first team assistant coach, replacing the now departed Khano Smith.

The name is hardly a coincidence; he is the brother of Enzo Martinez. The younger brother, in fact (by less than 11 months!), so he gets the upper hand in this particular sibling rivalry. They did play together at Charlotte Independence for a number of years,  but most recently he was the head of academy recruitment for Charlotte FC of MLS. He also played in MLS for a season with Sporting Kansas City, as well as with Orange County and the Carolina Railhawks (now North Carolina FC) in the USL Championship.

Alex is already working with the team, and is confirmed as traveling to Tampa Bay with them this weekend.
