A lot of movement this week

Some great long-distance goals this week, but results generally meant that both conferences are looking much tighter than they were just a couple of weeks ago. And who would have thought FC Tulsa would have the league’s longest win streak at 4 games?

4 Pittsburgh Riverhounds 6 2 10-2-8 18.839 A huge week: 2 clean sheets and 6 points (1-0 over Louisville and 2-0 over Detroit). 13 games unbeaten, 5 points clear at the top of the East, best PPG in the league.
5 Phoenix Rising 4 -1 6-5-7 17.521 Phoenix Rising were on a bye this week.
6 Tampa Bay Rowdies 1 -5 10-5-4 16.970 The post-Collins era started poorly and an 11-game unbeaten streak ended as the Rowdies lost 0-1 in Birmingham. Only 5 shots, 2 on goal and none inside the 18.
7 Orange County 9 2 7-9-4 16.644 Orange County’s 3-1 win in Loudoun was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests; they were gifted a PK and a bad clearance by Dane Jacomen. Still, 4 wins in the last 5.
8 FC Tulsa 17 9 6-7-7 15.762 Tulsa got a  long-range banger from Marcus Epps to beat Miami 1-0 and then a late goal from Phillip Goodrum to beat Hartford 3-2 in a tough 2-game home stand.
9 New Mexico United 5 -4 7-7-4 15.586 New Mexico United were on a bye this week.
10 Sacramento Republic 8 -2 9-2-8 12.663 Who else but Russell Cicerone? He scores again in the tight 1-1 draw with Memphis. 3 straight draws but they are clinging to the Western Conference lead.
11 Louisville City 10 -1 8-5-5 12.369 Lou City managed just 1 shot on goal in the 0-1 home loss to Pittsburgh. Detroit and Birmingham this week as they need points in a tight Eastern race.
12 Charleston Battery 12 0 9-5-6 11.911 The Battery had to come from behind twice on the road this week, tying 1-1 in Indianapolis and then Miami. They left it late in both games but got the job done.
13 Birmingham Legion 14 1 8-8-2 11.500 For the second time this season the Legion shut the Rowdies out on the way to an impressive 1-0 win. Up next #11 Louisville, then #12 Charleston in 2 key games.
14 Colorado Springs Switchbacks 7 -7 9-10-1 10.697 Christian Herrera allowed an easy goal 40 seconds in and another 8 minutes later. 6 minutes after that Romario  Williams was sent off. Downhill from there; 0-5 at home to San Diego.
15 Oakland Roots 19 4 7-6-6 9.457 Oakland were likely denied a goal on an iffy offside call in the otherwise even 1-1 draw with Memphis 901. They were then denied another goal but ended winners 3-1 over Monterey Bay.
16 Indy Eleven 15 -1 5-7-6 8.748 Indy led the Battery in a close and entertaining game before giving up the tying goal. They survived a Robby Dambrot red card to finish 1-1 against Charleston.
17 The Miami FC 18 1 3-9-8 7.347 Miami played a close match in Tulsa but lost 0-1 and then dominated Charleston for 96 minutes before giving up a tying goal in a 1-1 result at home.
18 El Paso Locomotive 13 -5 9-5-5 7.315 The Locomotive played San Antonio to a tough 1-2 loss and needed a late Aaron Gomez goal to tie RGV 1-1. No wins in the last 5 games but still 3rd in the West.
19 Las Vegas Lights 16 -3 1-9-8 5.799 Las Vegas Lights were on a bye this week.
20 Memphis 901 21 1 8-4-6 3.980 Memphis’ trip to California ended in two close 1-1 draws with Oakland and Sacramento. No wins in the last 4 games and they have been outscored 12-2.
21 Loudoun United 23 2 6-14-2 2.089 Loudoun gave up a 50-yard goal, tied it on a PK and immediately gave up a red card in a bizarre 1-1 game in Detroit, then gave up a PK and another red card losing 1-3 to Orange County.
22 Detroit City 20 -2 4-11-5 0.999 Dario Suarez’ 50-yard goal will be up for Goal of the Week, but didn’t stand up in the 1-1 draw with Loudoun. Then they were easily handled by Pittsburgh, losing 0-2. 2 points in the last 6 games.
23 Monterey Bay Union 22 -1 7-7-6 -1.088 The Union got no assist from the fog as they went down 1-3 to Oakland in a crucial Western Conference battle. Just 1 point from the last 4 games.
24 Hartford Athletic 24 0 2-13-4 -1.681 Hartford were seconds from seeing their 5-game losing streak end only to let Phillip Goodrum get a last gasp winner in the 2-3 loss in Tulsa.
