The Pundit Panel (Week 2): Legion @ Louisville CityDid LouCity drink too many mint juleps at the Derby last weekend? Let's hope so.
About the best that can be said for the panel’s Week 1 performance is that two of us got the scoreline right. Backwards, but the right score. This Saturday the Legion face off against Louisville City at Lynn Family Stadium. Who on the panel will be first out of the gate with some points? Barring a draw, someone will be:
John Fuller | Jacob Harris | Kaylor Hodges | Simon Iles | |

Prediction | win 2-0 |
win 2-1 |
win 3-1 |
win 2-1 |
Comments | The Legion travel without the suspended duo of JJ Williams and Junior Flemmings. That puts a lot of responsibility on Neco Brett. But he also needs service. That’s going to be hard to find on a stout LouCity midfield. Even with no permanent head coach, Los Morados are a formidable team. And they will be working on two weeks’ rest. If the Legion can get a single point from this game it will be well earned, but I don’t think they will. | In a scary one, I’ll stay optimistic once more. The ideas were great, but execution was poor May 1st. I see the Legion using the week to tighten up on the ball a bit. Then, a sturdy defense, and a swift counter attack could see them upset a high flying Louisville City FC 2-1. | I think that the Legion will look like a more competitive team than they did against Indy, but my prediction just speaks to the level of play that Louisville City is at. The Legion should play more as a team and have more cohesive chances, but will not have enough to win it. The goal scorer will be Bruno Lapa, because I really believe that this entire offense revolves around him. | Games against teams like Louisville truly are heart-ball-head affairs. Do I want to believe we can repeat the heroics of our trip to Louisville in 2019? Absolutely. Does the untimely departure of John Hackworth give the boys in black and gold a better chance of success against the Eastern Conference’s perennial winners? Maybe. Do I think it will happen? Probably not. Regardless of the pitch last weekend against Indy, Legion looked lacking in ideas at times. Louisville are a better team than Indy and will make us pay. |
