Legion acquire Freddy Kleemann on loanAustin FC SuperDraft pick comes to the Magic CIty

Birmingham Legion announced today that it has reached an agreement with the new Austin FC franchise of MLS to acquire defender Freddy Kleemann on loan.
Kleemann is a 22-year-old Californian and a senior at the University of Washington. He was selected 11th overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft with Austin’s second pick. In two years at Washington he made 28 appearances, and scored one goal and made one assist.
The loan is open-ended, meaning that he can be recalled by Austin FC at any time. He has not appeared in any of Austin’s 4 games to date, but the club has 9 defenders on its roster.
He will serve as additional central defensive support, and will likely spell Alex Crognale and/or Ben Ofeimu.
